"Hi I'm Rugby!  Not to brag right from the start, but I'm pretty great dog! My foster mom can't stop bragging about how cute I am! What can I say, I'm a looker! I like to spend my days playing with my foster brother (4 yr. old 60lb male lab mix). We enjoy chasing each other in the backyard and playing tug of war with toys, although I usually lose that battle. If you don’t find me playing with my foster brother, I'm usually then taking a "dog nap" somewhere in the house, I love taking naps, who doesn't?!

One activity I can’t seem to get enough of is going on walks!  My foster mom is very pleased with how well I walk on a leash.  While on walks I don't chase after other dogs or squirrels as they pass by. The only thing that might get my attention while on a walk is someone riding by on their bicycle or rollerblades, they just look funny to me so I might try and pull on my leash to go investigate, but my foster mom is working with me on this. And since I’m such a cutie I have lots of walkers stop to pet me!

Some other random things to know about me include how much I love when my foster mom gets on the floor and plays with me, especially when she gives me tummy-rubs, I can't get enough of those! I do LOVE cuddling with my foster mom as much as I can. I'm not a very vocal dog, unless I hear an unusual noise.  I'm not aggressive when it comes to toys, food or resource guarding, so no worries with any of that stuff.  I also sit and lay-down well on command. I do great during bath time! Have I mentioned already that I'm pretty great dog?!

Now, you might be wondering what do I do all day when my foster mom is at work? Well, I spend the day in my crate, and while I might whine a little once in my crate its only because I want to be with you. When bed time rolls around I sleep on the floor curled up on my blanky next to my foster mom's bed.  I haven't had any accidents in my crate nor in the house, which my foster mom greatly appreciates!  Overall at the end of the day I'm still wishing to find my forever home and meet my forever family hopefully one day soon. Arf arf, Rugby"

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
