Description:
Hi - I’m Josie! I’m a very sweet girl that is looking for a forever home. I’ve been in rescue for a few months now, but you see, the problem was, the rescue really never knew who I was, I kept my feelings locked deep inside, but I’ve decided enough is enough and I would really love a family of my own to love and protect so I’m here to tell you who I am! I’m just a petite girl that could use a little more ‘meat on my bones’ if you know what I mean! My current foster family has been so kind to help me out with that. I LOVE to be with my humans, especially my Foster Mommy, so if you’re looking for a girl to always watch out for you and be by your side, look no further! However, I do need a Mommy that will be a leader over me and will correct me when I do something wrong. Foster Daddy is fun too and he is teaching me all the important things like sit, down, leave it, drop it, come and stay!
I’m currently living with 3 Shepherd brothers and they are also teaching me the ways of being a good dog. So I think if you have a confident large dog, that would be best. One that won’t take my grief, so to speak! I’m also okay with smaller, confident dogs that have low key personalities as long as we are introduced properly.
We are currently working on my anxiety. When my brothers get all excited and start to play without me, I bark, a lot because I want to be with them. Its hard for me because if other dogs are playing around me, I want to play with them too! At this point, I’m really not a good ‘dog park dog’ because all that excitement kind of throws me through a loop…we are trying to find other outlets so I don’t feel the need to control the excited situation. Like fetch….I LOVE FETCH! In fact, I have a favorite hedgehog ball that I like to play and sleep with at night. Due to my anxiety, I think I would also like a home with no children or older kids, like teenagers. Oh, I also LOVE to be brushed! I will lie down and close my eyes in relaxation because I love it so much! I’m a very polite girl and settle very nicely in the house. I can kennel when you are away at work or running errands, and sleep like an angel next to your bed at night, with my hedgehog ball of course! Would you please open your home to me, continue to help me be a good dog and love me? When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
