Description:
Hi,My name is Rubio. First things first... I was transferred to the Humane Society in Coon Rapids MN, 11/11. 1/12 I was adopted by someone who wasn’t ready for me. He was only 20 and moving out of State soon. Sadly I had to find a new home. A new family took me in and that’s where I am right now. I came here 4/12. It was a big change for me! I was around kids! At first I thought I could play with them and chase them around the yard. Over time I have stopped, but will occasionally find it fun when super bored. This family isn’t used to having a big dog like me. I also gained 20lbs since I have lived here, LOL. Togethor we have taken 2 obedience classes. The trainers at both place were amazed (Petco and Pack Leader Behavior Training). They always commented on the way I learned things so fast and the way I take treats. I am super gentle! I love to play! When I see other dogs, my reaction may be a little over the top, but it’s all in play. I have been around all of the dogs in my current neighborhood. Even around puppies! I have also been to the Just Like Home, Canine Bed and Breakfast in Zimmerman several times for daycare. They love me there! I come home super tired! I also currently live with a rat terrier/ Chihuahua that is 14 yrs old. He is not up for playing and quite grumpy at times, but I get along well with him by letting him take the lead. I also live with a cat right now. She seems scared by my size. Over time we have learned to let each other be. We don’t snuggle but do get along. I am now back to looking for a new home. Not because the family I am with doesn’t like me. It is because they LOVE ME!!! The kids I live with are 2,3 and 7. With all the activities they don’t get me enough exercise or the attention I deserve. We also have a small house and an at home daycare. During the daycare I have to stay in the upstairs livingroom. I can see all the kids and people come in, but I can’t even be by them. It makes me very sad, I just want to be with people as much as possible. I try to behave but like any 2 yr old, I sometimes throw a tantrum. Sometimes I get to go with in the van to run errands. I watch out the windows taking in everything I see. I love keeping busy with other thing too... Such as hide and go seek with the kids, finding treats hidden in the house, chewing raw hides. Some other funny things about me are... I once caught a squirrel and let it go because I dont have amean bone in my body, I tried to chase the horses up north, but they started chasing me, and with all the grumpiness that little Chihuahua shows me at home, I still let him rule without any complaining. If me and my current family could make a wish we would wish for a permanent place for me to call home! I place where I can get all the exercise I need and people that love me! I have been through too much in my short life. I have went through change after change and though it all I am still the sweetest dog you could ever imagine. I am a BIG dog with a BIG Heart to match!
When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
