Can you help this little girl learn what real love is?

UPDATE FROM FARRAH'S (NUSHKA'S) ADOPTIVE HOME, JULY 23RD, 2011:

Our sweet girl's past is really a mystery to us! She was found by a ST.Paul family in the brutal winter months living sick and starving in the woods near their home. They nursed and fed her as best they could and searched for an owner. No owner could be found. She was emaciated and weak, but this was not where her story ended! The family learned of MARS and contacted them right away. Could she be saved? Could she be tamed as an indoor family dog? Lots of questions and worries..... We needed to move fast  getting her medical attention and out of the brutal Minnesota Winter.

She had never lived indoors or been thrown a ball, she was in survival mode at all times! Through MARS staff and volunteers we treated, trained and nurtured her. The road was a bit bumpy in the early days but she was quick to learn and eager to please her new "pack".

We were her foster parents and could not let her go, this girl would be ours for keeps! She is ALWAYS nearby and is very connected to each member of our family. She has impressed us with her intelligence and now knows all basic commands from us just using hand signals only... even the baby of our "pack" can command her to sit without saying a word!

Anushka, was the name we chose for our girl and is now know lovingly as "Nush".

She loves our 3 Sons and even tolerates being used as a pillow by our toddler. She is so alive and bright! She insists on sitting on your lap and pretends to not notice that she is clearly way to big for any lap! She loves car rides and runs ... She is also pretty great at fetch, well the fetching part anyways!

She is our loyal protector and a great home security system! She has gained nearly 30 lbs since we brought her home and is as strong as she is stunning!
She has an older K9 brother who agrees to let her stay, she takes the heat off of him in the kid and fetch department! For this he is grateful!

To MARS and the original family who had a hand in her rescue we are so incredibly grateful! We consider her a gift, a comfort and of course family!

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
