Description:
Meet Doc!
Never in my life have I seen this much love from such a cute little guy!
I've fostered many dogs and no dog has been this excited and happy to be
with people!  I practically have fanfare every night when I get home from
work!  Doc is a little long haired chihuahua.  He is almost all black with
tan feet/legs and a cute white spot on his tummy. If you are looking for
an extremely happy well socialized little boy, he is it!  He is one of the
funniest little guys ever and has us cracking up all the time.  He loves
his toys, bones, treats, and playing with you.  Once he gets his puppy
playing in he is definitely ready to cuddle!  He climbs right in your lap
and gives you that big puppy sigh before drifting off to lala land.  Sorry
I can't get any better pictures of him because he is either to busy
playing, or is trying to be right next to me.  99 out of 100 pictures are
little black blurs.  Doc wasn't initially potty trained when he came to my
house, but he has been awesome at using potty pads, and is going outside
sometimes (emphasis on sometimes).  I'm sure once it warms up a little
bit, he'll catch on, because he's a smart little guy!  He just needs that
little bit of extra patience and training to get him 100 percent.  In the
mean time, we'll keep working on it here.  Doc does fine with other dogs
and cats, and has surprised me with how well he's done with strangers!
He would be fine with older children, and would probably love to play
with them too.  He's not the super tiny chi, so he's a little bit
heartier, but still needs a gentle hand.  I think he would fit in best
with most situations, but would do best with a playmate of some sort!

NEW FOSTER UPDATE!

Doc has been a joy to have in my house.  He is all that his bio says.  My dogs have so much fun playing with him.  I am happy to let you know, I have not heard him bark yet.  He is just a super dog.  He likes to sleep with my in my bed and when the sun comes up, he is so excited to get up and play.  He wakes me up with many kisses and will scratch at the pillow next to me to say he needs to go outside.   He is one smart cookie.  He caught on to using the doggy door after the first time I showed him how to use it.  He has not pottied in my house since I got him.  He does enjoy being able to go run around outside.  I just can't say enough about this wonderful guy and I am totally in love with his spunky personality all ready. He would make the best addition to any family.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
