Description:

Rucker is completely house trained and goes outside on a leash, he would love a fenced in yard but if that is not possible he loves to go on walks and smell all the things. He does pull on the leash and will need some work, but he also knows the heal command and will come and sit right by your feet once spoken.

When in the house he is a lazy bum, he likes to take lots of naps. He loves his bed all day and will go in a kennel without haste, but I think he would be an ok free roamer as stated before. He has not chewed on anything, had any accidents or anything of that nature.

So far he is slow to warm up to the dogs, he likes his space. I think he will be ok with cats, the cat he met here he was VERY interested, but as soon as the cat let him know that he was not interested he did not pursue. I am not sure if he has ever been exposed to cats so he should be ok with them based on that interaction. He also was great with the 3 chickens that I have on the property and did not even give them any attention when they walked by.

I have not even heard him do one bark! I am not sure what he even sounds like. So far he has met a few people and he loves them all. When they pull up to the house while we are outside he will sit and wag and wait for pats. He does not jump or run up to cars. When there have been people in the house he also has not barked.

He has not been around any kids except when he was picked up from MARS and the one little girl that was there (10 maybe) he really liked her.

He was great in the car, sat on the floor in the back and did not make a peep.

He loves the outdoors and we have a little pond and I think he may like to swim. He wading in the water for some time. He knows basic commands, sit, lay down, shake, heel, come, outside.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
